Summary:
The Technical Resourcing Manager will serve in a departmental leadership role to oversee the day-to-day coordination of agricultural research programs, technical backstopping needs, and resource development of the ECHO Asia Regional Impact Center. The Technical Resourcing Manager will also be expected to serve as a subject matter expert and on-call trainer in support of ECHO Asia’s Extension efforts. This position will be based in Chiang Mai, Thailand at the ECHO Asia Small Farm Resource Center with regular travel throughout the Asia region (~4-6 trips per year).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Research & Development
- Coordinate and oversee new and continuing research projects that have potential for building up the technical capacity and knowledge of the ECHO Asia Network through validation options (current areas of focus: Soils, Seeds, & Feeds).
- Oversee a small portfolio of ongoing field trials and research initiatives at the ECHO Asia Small Farm Resource Center, including field preparation, maintenance, and data collection.
- Assist farm and seed bank staff, volunteers, and interns with improving their understanding of research processes, data collection, data analysis, visualization, data interpretation, and scientific writing.
- Help with the collection, analysis, and reporting of relevant Monitoring and Evaluation activities for ECHO Asia and its network members.
- Coordinate with the Global Research Director to ensure harmonization of research topics and sharing and dissemination of research findings.
- Publications & Technical Writing
- Serve as a regular contributor and editor of ECHO Development Notes (EDN).
- Identify and solicit contributors and authors of relevant content for ECHO publication and video materials.
- Coordinate with the Global Research Director to ensure harmonization of EDNs and supplemental regional article submissions.
- Write research articles and ECHO Development Note articles independently, highlighting practices and techniques developed through ECHO’s research at the Small Farm Resource Center and with partners.
- Identify external publication and video material produced by partners, for reproduction and/or sharing with the wider network.
- Help write research grant proposals for relevant research projects in Asia with collaborators that have the potential for developing and improving the technical capacity and knowledge of the ECHO Asia network.
- Capturing of information, stories, and impact of training participants to be written into donor funding resources in conjunction with ECHO’s Advancement team in Florida.
- Provide editorial help and oversight of other relevant ECHO publications (e.g. ECHO Asia books, ECHO Asia News, ECHO Development Notes, ECHO Technical Notes, etc.).
- Regional Networking
- Identify and represent ECHO at relevant network and knowledge sharing/learning events hosted by others in the region to build the ECHO network.
- Coordinate staff in the timely response of technical requests (TRs) from the network with well-documented, verified, and relevant ideas, techniques, plants, or contacts.
- Assist in providing paid consultations to network members across Asia at the request of the Director.
- Assist in providing drop-in consultations to network members across Asia at the request of the Director.
- Organize and implement targeted regional networking events.
- Direct Training
- Provide training regularly at on-farm training workshops, farmer field days, seminars, and conferences at the ECHO Asia Small Farm Resource Center.
- Provide training periodically at off-farm training workshops, farmer field days, seminars, and conferences throughout the Asia region.
- Provide seminars and workshops on occasion for interns, national and international.

- Native English speaker with oral proficiency in Thai (and/or willingness to learn Thai).
Education and Experience Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in agricultural, environmental, natural resources, or closely related field; Master's preferred.
- Conducting research and field trials, experimental design, data collection, and data analysis.
- Working in agricultural production, agricultural extension programs.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Regular work hours, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Travel:
Periodic travel off-site and throughout the region (~4-6 regional per year) and occasional overnight/weekend trips throughout norther Thailand.
