Manager/Supervisor
SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Human Resources Department. This position represents the organization to the employees and carries out the responsibility for the following functions: recruitment, compensation and benefits, employee relations, workers’ compensation, labor law compliance, training and development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruitment
  • Oversee full-cycle recruiting of qualified candidates: posting, screening, interviewing, providing feedback/recommendations, and assisting candidates through offer negotiations and acceptance.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to create/update job descriptions that accurately reflect job duties and responsibilities.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Process bi-weekly payroll, including electronic verification of timecards, correcting errors, and inquiring about irregularities.
  • Regularly conduct compensation and benefits analysis and bring recommendations for any proposed salary adjustments.
  • Ensure competent administration of benefits programs (medical, dental, vision, life & A&D insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and leave of absence), including claims resolution, change reporting, invoice approval, and communicating benefits information to employees. 
  • Coordinate annual benefit renewal with broker/PEO.
  • Update benefit costs and deductions on payroll system.
  • Manage annual 401(k) testing and compliance.
  • Update PTO accruals for annual audit.
  • Administer workers’ compensation program.
Employee Relations
  • Develop, interpret, and monitor policy compliance as well as Employee Handbook provisions.
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to supervisors (coaching, counseling, career development, and disciplinary actions).
  • Assist with conflict resolution.
  • Prepare employee separation notices and related documentation and conduct exit interviews.
  • Maintain personnel records.
Job Safety
  • Serves on the safety committee and collaborates with the Safety Officer in updating the Safety Manual. Assists with completion of injury reporting.
Labor Law Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Annual update of labor law posters.
  • Maintain personnel records.
Training and Development
  • Manage and facilitate the onboarding process and conduct new employee orientation.
  • Conduct 60 day “check-in” meetings with new employees.
  • Send reminders to supervisors for 90-day evaluations.
  • Assist with the facilitation of the annual performance review process, including developing timelines, employee communications, and reporting.
  • Identify organizational needs or gaps and develop the ways and means to address these.
Other
  • Establish and manage the HR budget and plan for appropriate and adequate resources.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Have a comprehensive understanding of local and state employment laws.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in Human Resources preferred.
  • International and cross-cultural professional experience.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Certification preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions within an office and farm environment. The noise and activity level in the work environment is usually quiet; however, at times the environment can become harried due to unexpected urgent projects, on farm work, and deadline demands. Must have a temperament to work constructively under pressure situations and must have the ability to travel domestically and internationally within minimal time segments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; use hands, talk and hear. Fine motor skills such as typing, the use of a computer mouse and telephone handset are required. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to sit, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and work outside on farm. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

TRAVEL:
Travel is primarily local during the business day. Potential for occasional overnight domestic and international travel
