SUMMARY:
The Site Manager provides operational leadership for ECHO's Florida site by overseeing buildings, maintenance, grounds, and field operations. This position ensures the site is safe, functional, welcoming, and prepared to support ECHO's global mission, staff, volunteers, partners, and guests. The Site Manager directly supervises the Field Techs and Facilities Manager, coordinates site priorities across departments, and stewards the site's facilities, infrastructure, equipment, and appearance with excellence and care.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Site Operations and Stewardship:
  • Lead the daily operations of the Florida site and establish clear priorities for facilities, maintenance, grounds, and field operations.
  • Implement the operational vision for the site in alignment with ECHO's strategic framework and the Florida site's role in global mission, hospitality, research, training, and engagement.
  • Ensure the site is safe, functional, clean, attractive, and ready to welcome staff, volunteers, donors, partners, and visitors.
  • Develop and maintain annual, seasonal, and weekly operational plans that coordinate work across the site.
  • Serve as the primary point of coordination for site operational needs, emergencies, and competing priorities.
  • Grant management for appropriate grants, including the NRCS grant.
  • Respond to requests from the Deputy Director of Research and Resourcing to support technical, capacity-strengthening activities on-site. 
Staff Leadership:
  • Directly supervise the Field Crew Leader, Facilities Manager, and Equipment Operator and Irrigation Technician.
  • Set clear expectations, assign priorities, coach team members, and conduct regular performance conversations and evaluations.
  • Build a healthy, Christ-centered team culture marked by communication, accountability, service, and collaboration.
  • Ensure staff receive appropriate training, tools, safety instruction, and support to perform their work effectively.
  • Coordinate staffing and work schedules to meet routine needs, seasonal demands, special events, and emergency situations.
Buildings, Maintenance, and Infrastructure:
  • Oversee preventative and corrective maintenance for site buildings, utilities, roads, drainage, irrigation infrastructure, vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Develop and maintain inspection schedules, maintenance records, service agreements, and replacement plans.
  • Coordinate contractors, vendors, permitting, and repair work while monitoring quality, cost, and timeliness.
  • Support planning and implementation of capital improvements, renovations, and site development projects.
  • Ensure buildings, systems, and grounds meet organizational standards for safety, accessibility, hospitality, and responsible stewardship.
Field Operations Oversight:
  • Supervise and support the Field Crew Leader in establishing priorities for agricultural field operations and demonstration areas.
  • Ensure field operations support research, seed banking, training, tours, events, and the overall visitor experience.
  • Coordinate with the Field Crew Leader on seasonal plans, equipment needs, irrigation infrastructure, weather preparation, and major field projects.
  • Review field conditions and operational needs regularly, while allowing the Field Crew Leader to lead daily agricultural execution.
Budget, Purchasing, and Resource Management:
  • Develop and manage operating budgets for site operations, maintenance, and field activities.
  • Review expenditures, approve purchases within assigned authority, and steward organizational resources responsibly.
  • Manage vendor relationships and help secure competitive pricing for services, equipment, and supplies.
  • Contribute to long-term capital planning and provide clear cost estimates and recommendations for site improvements.
  • Maintain appropriate inventories of tools, equipment, parts, and supplies.
Safety, Compliance, and Emergency Preparedness:
  • Lead implementation of site safety practices in coordination with Human Resources and the Safety Committee.
  • Ensure staff follow applicable laws, regulations, organizational policies, and safe operating procedures.
  • Maintain emergency response plans for severe weather, fire, utility failure, equipment incidents, and other site risks.
  • Coordinate required inspections, certifications, documentation, and corrective action related to site operations.
  • Promote a culture in which staff identify hazards, communicate concerns, and take timely action.
Collaboration and Mission Support:
  • Collaborate with RIC Directors, Advancement, Global Farm Tours, Research, Seed Bank, Human Resources, volunteers, hospitality, and other departments to support shared goals.
  • Coordinate operational preparation for tours, workshops, donor visits, conferences, work teams, and special events.
  • Support volunteers and work teams by helping ensure projects are appropriate, organized, safe, and adequately supervised.
  • Stay informed about ECHO's global work and communicate how the Florida site supports the mission and network.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Deputy Director of Engagement.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Must adhere to the ECHO Statement of Faith and possess character traits consistent with ECHO's Core Values.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people, manage competing priorities, delegate effectively, and hold teams accountable.
  • Strong working knowledge of facilities maintenance, grounds management, building systems, equipment, and operational safety.
  • Ability to develop budgets, evaluate costs, manage vendors, and plan for both immediate and long-term needs.
  • Excellent relational, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and translate organizational priorities into practical work plans.
  • Commitment to hospitality, stewardship, and maintaining a site that reflects the quality and purpose of ECHO.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in facilities management, operations, agriculture, business, construction, or a related field preferred. Equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Five or more years of related operational experience, including responsibility for personnel, budgets, facilities, maintenance, or site management.
  • Experience supervising teams and coordinating contractors, vendors, and cross-functional projects.
  • Experience in a nonprofit, ministry, agricultural, educational, or public-facing site environment is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in office, building, shop, and outdoor environments. The position requires regular movement throughout the Florida site and the ability to work in hot, humid, rainy, and changing weather conditions. Exposure to dust, noise, machinery, chemicals, insects, and uneven terrain may occur when appropriate safety procedures are followed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The employee must regularly walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, climb stairs, and move throughout buildings and outdoor areas. The employee may occasionally climb ladders, operate vehicles or equipment, and lift, pull, or push up to 50 pounds following appropriate safety procedures. The employee must be able to inspect facilities and grounds, use standard tools and equipment, and respond promptly to operational needs across the site.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full-time position. The usual schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional hours, including evenings, weekends, or holidays, may be required based on business needs. Emergency response work may also be required where applicable to the role.

TRAVEL:
Travel is primarily local during the business day. Occasional domestic or international travel may be available or required to support organizational learning, project planning, or ECHO operations.
